John Kurtinecz is Vice President of JP Lilley focusing on technical products and services facing the audio, video and presentation communities. John is a member of InfoComm International, ICIA which is now known as AVIXA, a member of various business chambers throughout the region, and Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau. In 1995 John was among the first 26 people in the world to achieve CTS-I certification by InfoComm International. He has been actively serving the AV industry for 31 years. Pre-Planning and DesignWe have worked with the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of JDRF for many years and have a trusted relationship. Project discussions started in the fall/winter timeframe of 2018 with only the name of the event "Black Tie - Boots and Bling" and that renowned, Platinum-selling, hit songwriter and dynamic performer Eric Paslay would be the featured artist.The design for the event was left up to our team to provide a creative solution using in-house technology while meeting a modest production budget. Additional budget hurdles included a larger venue space, compared to the previous year, as well as compromising on an appropriate live sound system for the sound engineer touring with Eric Paslay.The initial set design and budget was provided to JDRF in January of this year.Thi...

How and Why to Properly Wrap Cables

Yes, there is a correct method to wrap a cable; no, it's not by coiling the cable around your elbow. An appropriately wrapped cable ensures that it will uncoil straight and quickly, prolong its life, and look professional. Why is Improper Wrapping Bad? What is more frustrating and embarrassing than trying to uncoil or disentangle a cable that has been improperly wrapped? In situations where you might not have a lot of time, trying to untwist and undo knots can be a tremendous waste of labor. Incorrect wrapping can create a bad cable "memory" and eventually destroy the wires.
