Audio-Visual Installation Technician Level I
The Audio-Visual Installation Technician will be reporting directly to the Systems Integration Manager. You will be responsible for integrating complex audio-visual solutions in client environments. The successful candidate should be highly organized, possess sound judgment, and a high degree of initiative.
Responsibilities
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with clients, general contractors, electrical contractors, etc.
- Must possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with product lines Crestron, Extron, Panasonic, Sharp, Polycom, ClearOne, etc. a plus.
- Proficiency with low voltage wiring, trim-out and installation of wall and ceiling mounts.
- Strong grasp of Audio & Video including signal flow and equipment functionality.
- Working knowledge of commercial construction methods such as ceiling deck construction, wall framing and structural engineering
- Rough in an AV system including cable pulls and hardware mounting
- Assembling racks and testing
- AV equipment installation in finished spaces
- Ability to upload Extron, Crestron, DSP code and if required, connect and make any necessary changes.
- Ability to commission AV systems.
- Must be able to read and interpret designs, wiring schematics, architectural drawings, and project printouts.
- Ability to safely use hand/power tools, run cable, solder, crimp, and compress the vast array of AV interfaces & connectors such as CAT6, DB9, XLR, etc.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects and work within varied conditions some which may be small or confined. Ability to work on lifts and ladders.
- Daily field updates to Systems Integration Manager. Process all project paperwork and time sheets in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3+ years as an AV Technician in the commercial integration market
- Hands-on experience with and knowledge of AV equipment including, but not limited to, signal flow, projectors, switchers, microphones, mixers, lighting, and streaming equipment
- Have a mindset, attitude, and approach that actively seeks out change, rather than waiting to adapt to change
- Ability to work evening, weekends and holidays as needed
- AV Certifications a plus (Crestron, Extron, ClearOne, etc.)
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) Certification preferred but not required
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record & background check

- Climb and work on ladder at heights between 3’ and 12’
- Use basic tools to assemble and disassemble equipment
- Must be able to work in hot humid places as well as cold places.
- Must be able to work in high places and in small cramped places.
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Freelance Live Event Technician
Position Summary
JP Lilley Inc is a leading provider of audiovisual systems for live events in our region since 1928. We are seeking a Freelance Live Event Technician who is responsible for the preparation, setup, and operation of audiovisual systems for various sizes of live/hybrid/virtual events. This position requires appropriate appearance, professional self-presentation, and excellent customer service skills.
The Freelance Live Technician reports to the Director, Live Event Production.
The Freelance Live Technician position has NO guaranteed hours and will be considered a 1099 independent contractor.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with on-site lead technician, clients, and venue contacts to understand event setup, flow, and timing
- Provide excellent customer service through positive, and effective communication
- Setup, operation, and strike of audio-visual equipment to include but not limited to audio mixers, wireless microphones, led walls, projectors, screens, cameras, lights, and video switchers
- Works well as part of a team, all working to ensure our client’s event exceeds their expectations
- Portray a professional appearance and demeanor when dealing with clients
- Load and unload equipment into, and out of, company vans or box truck
- Troubleshoot AV systems in an effective and positive manner, to ensure event success
- Other associated tasks assigned by the Director, Live Events Production
Qualifications
- 3+ years of live/virtual event production experience
- Hands-on experience with AV equipment including, but not limited to audio mixers, microphones, projection systems, and cameras. Experience with LED walls, lighting fixtures, and streaming is a plus
- Knowledge of AV systems including, but not limited to, signal flow, video resolutions, and audio EQ basics. Knowledge of lighting fixture addressing, and LED wall configuration a plus
- Have a forward-thinking mindset, positive attitude, and ability to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to work evening, weekends and holidays
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Lift certification preferred, but not required
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) preferred, but not required
Work Location
This position is based out of our Harrisburg, PA headquarters but will primarily be on-site at various regional event venues
